Royal Albert Hall and Mimecast -- Real World Solutions
Not only does the Royal Albert Hall (RAH) entertain over a million people each year, it also receives almost 4,000 emails every day. Unfortunately, its anti-spam and anti-virus protection was proving difficult to use. It lacked the level of control required and the IT team wasted valuable time setting security policies, reviewing quarantined emails and restoring wrongly deleted emails. It needed a system that could eliminate security threats immediately while helping to streamline the organization’s email management system. RAH selected Mimecast to improve its email security and archiving.
Crispin Gray, head of information systems at RHA explains: “With Mimecast’s Data Leak Prevention techniques, we now know that staff cannot inadvertently send credit card details or other confidential information out of the business. Moreover, with Mimecast’s email security, we have been able to prevent 53,000 spam emails from reaching our Exchange server every day.” Since implementation, Mimecast has provided the RAH with a complete search and retrieval functionality so staff can now look through its entire email archive of up to 10 years in seconds.
Gray adds: “The move to Mimecast has significantly reduced the load placed on our email system, allowing our IT staff to provide a more efficient service. Capturing and storing internal, inbound and outgoing emails provides a comprehensive backup and Mimecast’s 99.999 percent uptime supports our business continuity strategy. It allows us to access our emails in the event of any issue arising with MS Exchange.”
