More Options to Secure Email

Last week, Sendmail, Inc., announced the availability of its new managed email infrastructure services with the introduction of Sendmail Sentrion Cloud Services. Earlier this month, SpamTitan, a producer of email security solutions, announced the availability of SpamTitan CMC, for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Sendmail

According to Sendmail, Sentrion Cloud Services will provide enterprise customers with more choice, agility, control and protection by offering a cost-effective SaaS (software-as-a-service) solution to filter inbound emails for spam and viruses before they are managed and regulated by the on-premises messaging infrastructure solutions. Sendmail’s on-premises Sentrion Message Processors provide the more critical email-backbone functions such as data loss prevention, directory-driven message routing and content policy enforcement with proven high return-on-investment for large enterprises.

“The current economic realities and industry shifts are causing enterprise customers to re-think their approach to managing their email infrastructure,” says Stephanie Nevin, vice president of marketing for Sendmail. “By pushing the commodity filtering function to the cloud, businesses can reduce their overall operating expenses and focus their attention on the mission-critical internal email infrastructure to ensure that the important policy and routing requirements for corporate governance, regulatory compliance and data leak prevention are handled safely on-premises.”

The company notes that its Sentrion Cloud Services gives enterprise customers the same level of protection from spam and viruses as the Sentrion MP (Message Processor) hard appliance, the Sentrion MPQ (Quantum Message Processor) Blade Server appliance, and the Sentrion MPV (Virtual Message Processor) that runs as a virtual appliance on VMWare.

Cost savings is a key benefit according to Sendmail, noting that Sentrion Cloud Services provides businesses an immediate return on investment by reducing the infrastructure required for managing spam on-premises. The savings are realized by requiring fewer servers at the gateway to accept inbound mail and by reducing data center footprint, network traffic, storage costs and energy consumption.

SpamTitan

SpamTitan CMC (cluster management configuration) offers email security solutions targeted at helping small- and medium-sized enterprises. According to the company, SpamTitan CMC—configured to allow the clustering of multiple nodes for both redundancy and to increase total system capacity—provides enhanced monitoring and autonomic failover capabilities. “It ensures data is always available, even in the event that a node is turned off or unavailable for any reason. The cluster can be managed through a single interface by the administrator providing centralized reporting and end-user digests for all email activity.”

“We are excited to announce the SpamTitan CMC and finally provide the SBM market high-performance email security solutions with advanced clustering capabilities at an affordable price,” states Ronan Kavanagh, SpamTitan president and CEO. “Our SpamTitan CMC offers enterprise class functionality including instant scalability, failover and load balancing, all of which can be achieved very simply via a single screen Web interface.”
