Interest in Virtualization Grows at RSA

Securing virtualization is a commonly cited concern of the technology. Evidence of this can be seen at the upcoming RSA Conference 2010, to be held in San Francisco March 1-5, as the topic of securing virtualization is one that has grown significantly over the last few years.

“Two years ago I think we had one session, when virtualization technology was just starting to emerge,” recalls Sandra Toms LaPedis, area vice president and general manager of RSA Conference, “and we had to force that session on the agenda because we thought it was important.”

For this year’s conference, LaPedis says when reviewing the call for papers that an overwhelming number included the word cloud and virtualization. “It is definitely a big issue,” she says and notes that at least 12 sessions include the topic of virtualization this year.

Other anticipated hot topics include cloud computing, mobile malware and social networking attacks. The conference offers 18 program tracks, and numerous well-known keynote speakers.
