InfTek Offers a Clustered Solution for Kerio MailServer

InfTek, a certified partner of Kerio Technologies announced last month GetSync’d, a professional synchronized email service featuring clustered Kerio MailServers. According to a company statement, “GetSync’d combines the functionality of Kerio MailServer with VMWare technology for a high-powered alternative to Hosted Microsoft Exchange. Kerio MailServer is an affordable groupware solution that enables users to share contacts and calendars and access email from any computer, iPhone, or smartphone with an Internet connection. To eliminate risk associated with single server implementations, InfTek has utilized VMWare High Availability technology to cluster multiple instances of Kerio MailServers and insure data accessibility.”

“Kerio MailServer is rock solid but does not currently offer their own cluster model to protect against hardware failure,” says Mike Schaffner, CTO of InfTek, Inc. “When installed on a VMWare server farm, one of the other servers in the high availability cluster will pick up the processing and allow the end user to not notice any significant downtime.”

The Kerio MailServer cluster operates on the VMWare ESX platform, which replicates data on multiple servers and enables the connection to be transferred to another server if the current server goes down for any reason. Kerio says it takes its server approximately 54 seconds to complete the transfer, ensuring that the end user sees virtually no downtime. In addition, every server in the Kerio MailServer cluster has redundant connections and power sources, enabling another connection or power source to quickly take over should a problem arise.
