Scambaiting on NPR
NPR has a piece scambaiters. These are the individuals who reply to the 419 email scams in order to take up the time and resources scammers would otherwise use to defraud other people. Along the way, some of seek fun, revenge, and “trophies”. In one classic, well known scambaiter Mike Berry convinces one of the scammers to recreate an old Monty Python sketch on camera The video is now on YouTube. Berry has also produced a book of his scambaiting exploits.
