Is the new “.tel” domain more than just a pretty face on top of DNS?: Dan York writes a well written and detailed post about the up and coming .tel Top Level Domain (TLD) from Telnic. .tel is launching as a global directory service that supports a large number of services from phone numbers to social networks. Dan does a good job of describing the pros and cons to the service and the responses in the comments are equally enlightening.
Dear World, email addresses are not identity: An interesting post from Paul Tyma of Mailinator talking about the problems of assuming that email is an identity and the problems of assuming that people can’t just generate as many addresses as they want. Tyma is specifically talking about the case of online registration forms. He should know: His company Mailinator provides free anonymized email addresses to anyone who wants them.
