Understanding CardSpace | : As part of his Perspectives series, Jon Udell interviews Vittorio Bertocci, the author of Understanding Windows CardSpace. The interview is interesting and covers a number of current identity management topics. In addition to the audio of the interview, a full transcript is available. The inline audio player requires a Microsoft Silverlight plugin, but the audio can be downloaded directly without it.
Ma.gnolia: OpenID to Save Anti-Spam, Anti-Spam to Save OpenID : Marshall Kirkpatrick at ReadWriteWeb writes about the Ma.gnolia social bookmarking service switching to OpenID for new signups since they have reported that three quarters of their new signups were spam. The problem is that as it is currently configured, Ma.gnolia does not restrict which OpenID providers they accept. It is likely this will only result in a temporary reduction in spam signups until spammers create their own OpenID providers or target existing ones to create new users. In some ways the result will be worse as multiple sites will then accept this new spam user.
Meta/Virtual/Directory Hubs and the Need for the Identity Bus: Dale Olds makes an interesting point about decentralization arguing for a loosely coupled “bus” model in identity management while trying to slightly reframe the current debate about directory management.
