Adobe Raises The Stakes For Web Documents With Buzzword and Share: Erick Schonfeld at Techcrunch describes Adobe’s plans to purchase Buzzword, Virtual Ubiquity’s browser-based word processor. Buzzword leads the competition in terms of interface and ability to render the documents on screen the same as they will be printed. Buzzword is built using Adobe’s Flash and Flex technologies which allows Buzzword to feel much more like a desktop application living in the browser. The company intends to released a downloadable version that will use Adobe AIR to provide drag and drop functionality from the desktop as well as offline capabilities.
Nokia to Buy Navteq for $8.1 Billion - New York Times: Finish based Nokia will pay US $8.1 billion for Navteq, the largest provider of mapping data. Google, Yahoo, Microsoft as well as many other companies and device manufacturers make use of Navteq’s data. The device manufacturer TomTom recently announced plans to purchase Tele Atlas, Navteq’s largest competitor.
I love my iPhone, but…bah, no Jaiku!: Tim Oreilly gives a highly positive review to the iPhone, but laments his loss of a native Jaiku application which provides a combination of address book, messaging, presence, status and location information.
