Jott for Hands-Free Notes and Email
Jott is a transcription service designed to let you take notes and send email from your mobile phone. The default interaction with the service is relatively straightforward. You dial a tollfree number and record a message that is then transcribed and sent to you in as an email or text message along with an mp3 attachment of your original message. One compelling feature is that message may be sent to another person or to a group, effectively providing you with speech to text email service. You can upload an existing address book or add entries individually. John Pollard, the CEO of Jott, has a weblog that he posts to using Jott and an email to weblog interface.
You can view all of your messages online. A message may be sent or forwarded later to an individual or group. You can choose to send the Jott as email, as a text message, or as both. The quality of the transcription is good but not great as punctuation may be missing and portions may be inaudible due to a poor mobile phone connection. The service is currently free and advertising supported.
