Shelf - Context for MacOS - jerakeen.org: the software is still in proof-of-concept stage, but the idea is promising. Shelf runs in the background and polls the currently running application to see if it can find information about people you are currently interacting with. Shelf uses additional information stored in Address Book to make the connections and aggregate extra details. (via O’Reilly Radar)
Microsoft’s SSL for Secure Map Mashups: this is an interesting development which implications for all kinds of mashups and not just maps. Hopefully, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, and other will roll out SSL for more kinds of mashups, particularly ones that might pass sensitive data or login information.
