NPR has a piece scambaiters. These are the individuals who reply to the 419 email scams in order to take up the time and resources scammers would otherwise use to defraud other people. Along the way, some of seek fun, revenge, and “trophies”. Berry has also produced a book of his scambaiting exploits.
