RIM and Yahoo announced a new partnership on Wednesday to provide Blackberry users with access to Yahoo! webmail, IM, and search services.
Under the agreement, BlackBerry users will be able to synchronize the mail on their handhelds with their Yahoo! webmail accounts. At some unspecified future date, users will be able to wirelessly import, modify and synchronize their Yahoo! Address Book and Yahoo! Calendar entries using their BlackBerry devices. In addition, RIM will provide software on its devices to allow immediate access to Yahoo! Search and Yahoo! Messenger.
RIM and Yahoo announced a similar partnership last year, but given the abominable quality of RIM’s own webmail service (think time outs, browser incompatibilities for all but IE users, and a UI from the last century), this new arrangement should be a real blessing to Blackberry users.
