Laurianne McLaughlin has a good article out on the growth in size of email messages (she reports 20K is the new average), and in message stores.
The discussion of caching appliances from Accellion and Intradyn is interesting; standalone appliances for archiving will make sense for many companies, though archiving seems likely to become a standard feature of most email appliances over the next year or two.
