Ferris Research, a San Francisco-based research and consulting firm, recently released some new figures concerning the email archiving market in a new report, The Email Archiving Market, 2006-2010 (disclosure: Ferris Research is a client). The report notes:
The report also finds that the worldwide market for archiving is driven by regulatory compliance, and today, that means the that the U.S. market is far and away the largest. It’s interesting to speculate on whether changes to the EU regulatory environment might change that; certainly, some of the data retention requirements being imposed on ISPs point to a sympathy there for logging network traffic.
