Editor's Note
I Get the Message!
It was my pleasure to participate in a September conference focusing exclusively on application and business continuity issues and solutions. The conference, managed and presented by ApplicationContinuity.org, had an agenda mixing business, IT, analyst, and media speakers including case studies and presentations from companies like Microsoft Corp., and Hewlet Packard, as well as From the Trenches case studies. For our panel we debated the merits of on-premise vs. hosted solutions. Also in September, the Messaging NewsMakers Webinar debuted with the topic of Email Archiving and e-Discovery. The Webinar, presented in interview format, offered information on the definition of email archiving, the latest information on Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) amendments, compliance challenges, email management best practices and more. My personal thanks go to Russell Sachs, cofounder and vice president of legal solutions, and Nick VanBuskirk, director of legal and e-Discovery solutions of MessageOne for participating. The Messaging NewsMakers Webinar will be offered from time to time. I hope you will join us for these free Webinars as we talk about various important messaging issues of the day.
If this installment of Messaging News has a single underlying theme, it is how much Web 2.0 is impacting everything. From the cover story that looks at how spam, spyware and phishing are affecting online trust, to cybercriminals brandjacking well-known brands. From the need for the CIO to assess Web 2.0 applications, to the need for organizations to keep their networks safe. This issue touches on many 2.0 challenges.
Also included in this issue, is our first feature story dedicated to P2P. Especially timely, as a landmark copyright infringement case just settled. Lastly, we take a look at how targeted email marketing can help increase revenue.
Remember to let us know your messaging news and observations.
Good reading,
